Arrive curious, not committed
The goal of counselling is clarity — not confirming a decision you already made. Come willing to hear what assessment data and expert conversation reveal.
Topics worth discussing as a family
- What subjects your child enjoys versus tolerates
- Any assumptions about “safe” careers in the family
- Financial considerations, stated openly and early
- Your child’s own questions and anxieties
What to avoid
Pressuring your child to perform enthusiasm for a path you’ve chosen, or dismissing assessment results that surprise you. Data is a starting point for dialogue, not a verdict.
Make the session count
Write down three open questions before you arrive. That simple step often transforms a good session into a breakthrough one.
